Louisiana QHBA Breeders’ Derby Headlines Rich Saturday Undercard Stakes at Evangeline Downs

OPELOUSAS, LA—DECEMBER 3, 2019—Eysa Jess Jumpn, a multiple graded stakes winning daughter of Heza Fast Dash owned by Jose Estrada Quarter Horses, will risk his nine-race win streak in Saturday’s 400-yard, $150,000 Louisiana QHBA Breeders’ Derby (R) at Evangeline Downs.
Trained by Fructuoso Huitron, Eysa Jess Jumpn has earned $336,872 from eight starts this year, and she has won four stakes, including the 440-yard, $204,600 Dash For Cash Derby (G2) at Lone Star Park on October 5. The filly drew post 9 and will be ridden by Pedro C. Espinosa.
Other contenders include Larry J. Boudreaux’s Mpshinning, a Mr Piloto colt and fastest qualifier. Trained by Adrian Huitron, Mpshinning has won all three of his outs at Evangeline Downs, and he ended his 2-year-old campaign with a 1 1/2-length victory in the 400-yard, $1-million LQHBA Million Futurity (RG1) at the track.
Mpshinning drew post 6 and will be ridden by Victor M. Urieta Jr.

TM Ranch’s Cant Catchacorona heads a field of 10 Louisiana-bred sprinters entered in Saturday’s 220-yard, $30,000 Scoopies Leaving You Stakes (R). A gelded 4-year-old son of Coronas Leaving You, Cant Catchacorona will be shortening in distance off of his neck victory in the 350-yard, $40,000 Opelousas Stakes (R) at Evangeline Downs on November 9. The gelding drew post 7 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez.
Runaway Second Down, a graded stakes winning son of Sir Runaway Dash trained by Robi Meche for owners Eulalio Argote and Victor Alvarado, heads a full field of state-bred 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $40,000 LQHBA Louisiana Million Invitational Stakes (R). Runaway Second Down has banked $368,526 from seven races, and his three wins include a head victory in the 350-yard, $700,293 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs in July. The gray gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr.
