Fastest Qualifier A Painted Dynasty Headlines $308,335 Firecracker Futurity

VINTON, LA—JULY 1, 2019—David Gutierrez’s A Painted Dynasty, a bay son of champion Fdd Dynasty and the fastest qualifier, heads a field of 10 2-year-olds entered back in Thursday’s 350-yard, $308,335 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs.
Trained by Josue Ponce, A Painted Dynasty made his local debut with a three-quarter length victory in the first of eight Firecracker Futurity trials on June 8. The colt has earned $56,807 from four starts in Louisiana and Texas, and his record includes a third-place finish in the 330-yard, $459,700 Sam Houston Futurity (G2) on May 3.
A Painted Dynasty drew post 8 and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr.
Other contenders include Big Daddy Jewel, a stakes-winning gray son of Big Daddy Cartel trained by Heath Taylor for owners Chris C. Dunn, David Dunn, and Rebecca Jameson. Big Daddy Jewel has banked $58,133 from five outs, and the gelding’s resume includes a head victory in the 330-yard, $104,705 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs on May 11.
Big Daddy Jewel drew post 9 and will be ridden by Randy Edison.
