OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 14, 2018—Featuring Fast Jess, a sorrel son of Heza Fast Dash racing for Fernando Ramos, is one of 24 state-bred 3-year-olds entered in Saturday’s 400-yard Louisiana QHBA Breeders' Derby (R) trials at Evangeline Downs.

Featuring Fast Jess brings in a three-race win streak that includes a three-quarter length victory in the 400-yard, $266,460 Delta Downs Derby (R) on July 7. The gelding drew post 4 and will be ridden by Noe Castaneda for trainer Eduardo Morales in the first of three trials.

Crown Horse Racing LLC’s Shesa Diamond Diva, a gray daughter of Struttin To Beduino trained by Jose Luis Sanchez III, drew post 6 and will be ridden by Eddie Sanchez in the second heat. The filly has earned $323,892 from nine starts, and her resume includes second-place finishes in the Delta Downs Derby and last year’s 400-yard, $1-million Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $150,000-added LQHBA Breeders' Derby final on December 15.
