Lee Berwick Futurity Trials Set for Saturday

VINTON, LA—JUNE 13, 2018—A total of 130 Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds, topped by graded stakes winners Shakeshakeshakeit and Guidry Pride II, has been entered in Saturday’s 350-yard Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs.

Shakeshakeshakeit is coming off of a nose victory in the 330-yard, $360,000 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs on May 19. The sorrel son of Five Bar Cartel is trained by Michael Taylor for owner Show Me Da Money LLC, and he has earned $181,178 from two starts.

Shakeshakeshakeit drew post 8 and will be ridden by Antonio Alberto in the ninth of 14 trials.

A gray colt by Sir Runaway Dash trained by Wendy Garcia for owner Edmundo Juarez, Guidry Pride II will be making his first start since March 17, when he scored a neck victory in the 300-yard, $310,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs. The colt drew post 3 and will be ridden by Juan F. Garcia Jr. in the sixth heat.

To accommodate the large number of trials, post time for Saturday’s first race has been moved up to 4:30 p.m. (CDT). The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the July 7, $200,000-added Lee Berwick Futurity final.
