Louisiana Purchase Stakes Draws Eight State-Breds
VINTON, LA—MAY 2, 2017—Lil Bro Big Streak, a graded stakes placed son of Jet Black Patriot, is one of eight state-bred sprinters entered in Saturday’s 350-yard, $40,000 Louisiana Purchase Stakes (R) at Delta Downs.
Lil Bro Big Streak is trained by Trey Ellis for the Melvin Hatley 1987 Trust. The 3-year-old gelding has earned $61,280 from nine outs, and he ended his juvenile campaign with a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Hez Kwik, in the 350-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes (RG2) at Fair Grounds Racecourse in New Orleans.
Lil Bro Big Streak will be making his first-ever start against older horses in the Louisiana Purchase. Alfonso Lujan will ride the gelding from post 2.
The Louisiana Purchase is restricted to non-winners of a stakes race. The complete lineup, in post position order including jockey assignments--
