BOSSIER CITY, LA—FEBRUARY 21, 2016—Joseph Landreneau’s Jet Black Zoomer will put his three-race win streak on the line in today (Sunday) 400-yard Mardi Gras Derby (R) trials at Louisiana Downs.

A gelded son of Jet Black Patriot trained by Kelli Smith, Jet Black Zoomer is coming off of a neck victory over Jess A Saint in the 350-yard, $25,000 Bill Montgomery Stakes (R) at Louisiana downs on January 16. Jet Black Zoomer has earned $87,196 from nine outs.

Jet Black Zoomer will be ridden by Antonio Alberto from post 9 in the first of three trials.

Jess A Saint, a graded stakes winning son of champion Jess Louisiana Blue trained by Miguel Rodriguez for owner Julio Rios, drew post 2 in the second heat. The gelding has banked $469,816 from eight races, and his three wins include a half-length victory in last year’s 400-yard, $1-million Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders’ Association Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs.

Raul Ramirez Jr. will ride Jess A Saint on Sunday.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the March 12, $50,000-added Mardi Gras Derby final.
