NEW ORLEANS, LA—AUGUST 31, 2015—Fair Grounds Racecourse’s closing-day program on Saturday is topped by the $303,777 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) (see related story), but the track’s card will also feature two other official stakes.

Fauborg St. Johns Stakes
A full field of eight distance specialists has been entered in the 870-yard, $30,000 Fauborg St. Johns Stakes. Streak Of Music, a $10,000 claim by owner Kevin Nobles at Delta Downs back in June, will be ridden by Donell Blake from the rail post.

A 4-year-old Miracle Streak gelding trained by Ray Robbins, Streak Of Music made his debut for his new connections with a come-from-behind, three-quarter length victory at odds of 17-1 in an 870-yard open-condition allowance for Louisiana-breds at Fair Grounds on August 20.

Streak Of Music’s seven opponents in the Fauborg St. Johns Stakes include Frank J. Greenhaw’s Droppin Timber, a 5-year-old First Timber gelding trained by Orrin Cogburn. Droppin Timber has won five of his 14 starts at the 870-yard distance, and his record at the trip includes a third-place finish in the April 2, $50,000 Pauls Valley Handicap (G3) at Remington Park.
