Fastest Qualifier Zoomin Baby Draws Rail Post for $171,630 Firecracker Derby Final

VINTON, LA—JULY 3, 2015—Craig Lauger’s Zoomin Baby, a gray son of Jess Zoomin and the fastest qualifier, drew the rail post for Friday’s 400-yard, $171,630 Firecracker Derby at Delta Downs.

Zoomin Baby is coming off of a neck victory as the odds-on favorite in the first of three trials on June 12. The gelding has won five of seven races, including the December 20, $215,000 Evangeline Downs Futurity, and he has earned $127,398.

John Hamilton will ride Zoomin Baby for trainer Michael Taylor on Friday.

Other contenders include Volcoms Thunder, a gelded son of Volcom owned and trained by Raul Galvan. Volcoms Thunder brings a three-race win streak into this race that includes a victory in the 350-yard, $203,000 Sam Houston Derby (G3) on April 25.

Volcoms Thunder drew post 6 and will be ridden by Juan Marquez.
