Gemma Seeks First Stakes Win in Delta’s Alabama Futurity


Paris Wixon’s Gemma posted the fastest qualifying time for the $61,625 Alabama Futurity (R) at Delta Downs during the June 5 trials.

VINTON, LA—JUNE 25, 2015—Paris Wixon’s Gemma, a homebred daughter of Teller Cartel, will be seeking her first stakes victory in Friday’s 330-yard, $61,625 Alabama Futurity (R) at Delta Downs.

Gemma broke her maiden with a head victory in the first of two trials on June 5, a race in which the filly set the fastest Alabama Futurity qualifying time. Gilbert Ortiz will ride Gemma from post 6 for trainer Edwin Ladner in Friday’s final.

Other contenders include Quick Lady Patriot, a homebred filly by Quick To Flare Up who brings a two-race win streak into the Alabama Futurity for owner Karl H. Smith. Quick Lady Patriot drew the rail post and will be ridden by Donell Blake for trainer Trey Ellis.
