Summer Sale Yearlings Set To Make Debut In Louisiana Downs Futurity Schooling Races


Louisiana Downs will host nine schooling races for Louisiana Downs Futurity hopefuls on Friday.

BOSSIER CITY, LA–FEBRUARY 6, 2024–Fifty-three juveniles, including a number of 2023 "summer sale" graduates, are set to make their unofficial career debut in nine schooling races on Friday at Louisiana Downs.

All starters are eligible to compete in the 300 yard Grade 2 Louisiana Downs Futurity trials on March 7. The $250,000 est. final will runback on March 30.

Friday's hopeful's will be going a training distance of 220 yards. First post is 11:00 a.m. (CST).

Two of the top four high-sellers set to complete Friday will face each other in Race 8.

Twinkly, a $55,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate racing for owner JJs Custom Built Homes will be saddled by trainer Jose Sanchez.  Jockey Luis Vivanco will ride the Tempting Dash filly from Post 6.

The sorrel filly is a half-sister to Firecracker Futurity(G2) winner Sixes Flash and PM Derby Challenge winner FDD Princess. This is the family of champion Hall of Famer Indigo Illusion.

A $47,000 graduate from the TQHA Sale, Zee Valiant Hero will race from Post 1 for owner Dewey Kenrick III and trainer Roy Roberts. Jorge Garcia has the riding call aboard the Valiant Hero filly out of stakes winner Zenergetic by Dominyan. This is the family of world champion Whistle Stop Cafe.

A $50,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, Seis No More, will race from Post 1 in the fourth race for owner Aubry Horse Racing.  Trainer Guillermo Martinez named Eddie Martinez to ride the Tempting Dash colt out of stakes producer Tripled Effort by Tres Seis. The second dam is champion filly Tiny First Effort.

Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate Eagle Deluxe Stone will start in the second race from Post 2 for owner Rancho La Cobra LLC.  Wendy Garcia conditions the full brother to stakes winner Eagle Deluxe and All American Futurity(G1) runner-up Reagal Eagle. 

The sorrel colt's name was changed from All Eagle to Eagle Deluxe Stone after the summer sale. Modesto Pina is riding.

Mardi Gras Futurity-eligibles will run in schooling races on Saturday (Feb 10). A program for those races will be posted when it becomes available.
