One Sweet Sugar Draws Post 2 for Saturday's $1-Million LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity

Two-time stakes winner One Sweet Sugar will look for her third stakes win in Louisiana's richest Quarter Horse race, Saturday's 400-yard, $1-million LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs.

OPELOUSAS, LA–NOVEMBER 13, 2023–One Sweet Sugar, a multiple graded stakes winning homebred daughter of One Sweet Jess racing for Rogelio Marquez Jr., is one of a dozen state-bred juveniles entered back in the state's richest Quarter Horse race, Saturday's 400-yard, $1-million LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs.

One Sweet Sugar has earned $516,788 from seven races, and her four wins include the May 26, $327,000 Louisiana Breeders' Lassie Futurity (RG2), and the July 15, $625,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1), both at Delta Downs. Jesus M. Marquez trains the sorrel filly.

One Sweet Sugar drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jasiel Aquino.

Other contenders include Party Tyme Racing's Eyesa Freighttrain B, a Freighttrain B colt who ran fourth in the open 400-yard, $449,000 Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park in October. Trained by Jose R. Espinosa, Eyesa Freighttrain B has banked $297,794 from seven outs, and his four wins include a three-quarter length victory in the May 27, $280,000 Louisiana Breeders' Laddie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs.

Eyesa Freighttrain B drew post 8 and will be ridden by Sabino Reyes.

Also on Saturday, Vic3tory LLC's Wild Blue Debutant is the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the 400-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Million Invitational Stakes (R) for state-bred 2-year-olds.

A $13,500 purchase at last year's LQHBA Yearling Sale, Wild Blue Debutant is coming off of a half-length victory in a Louisiana Million Futurity trial on November 24. The sorrel daughter of champion Jess Louisiana Blue has earned $78,127 from seven races, and she was a finalist in the July 15 Lee Berwick Futurity at Delta Downs.

Wild Blue Debutant drew post 6 and will be ridden by Eleazar Hernandez for trainer Leonel Hernandez.
