Fastest Qualifier B Second Cowboy, Fire Cowboy Headline Grade 3 Evangeline Downs Futurity

OPELOUSAS, LA–DECEMBER 11, 2023_Fastest qualifier B Second Cowboy and Grade 2 winner Fire Cowboy are two of the 10 2-year-olds entered back in Friday's 400-yard, $237,940 Evangeline Downs Futurity (G3) at Evangeline Downs.

A homebred son of Flying Cowboy 123 trained by Jose Espinosa for owner Party Tyme Racing, B Second Cowboy made his local debut with a neck victory in the fourth of eight trials on November 17. The gelding has won four of six races and has earned $48,723, and he was a finalist in the June 3, $462,000 Sam Houston Futurity (G2).

B Second Cowboy drew post 3 and will be ridden by Sabino Reyes.

Fire Cowboy races for Emanuel Villarreal from the barn of trainer Juan Diaz Jr. A sorrel son of Flying Cowboy 123 and a $22,000 yearling purchase at last year's Los Alamitos Equine Sale, the gelding brings in a three-race win streak that includes a three-quarter length victory in the October 21, $131,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Lone Star Park.

Fire Cowboy drew post 8 and will be ridden by Jose Herbert.
