Rich LQHBA Sale Futurity Headlines Saturday State-Bred Stakes Bonanza at Delta Downs


Graded stakes-placed Mp Adored heads a field of 10 state-bred 2-year-olds in Saturday's $448,771 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA–AUGUST 29, 2023–MP Adored, a graded stakes placed Mr Piloto filly owned by Guerras Racing Stables, leads a field of 10 state-bred 2-year-olds entered back in Saturday's 350-yard, $448,771 Louisiana QHBA Sale Futurity (RG1), one of five state-bred stakes scheduled for Delta Downs.

Post time for the first race on the 10-race program is set for 6:10 p.m. (CDT).

A $15,000 purchase at last year's LQHBA Yearling Sale, MP Adored is coming off of a head victory in one of nine trials run on August 11. The filly has earned $62,294 from seven starts, and her record includes a third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner One Sweet Sugar, in the May 26, $327,000 Louisiana Breeders' Lassie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs.

MP Adored drew post 2 and will be ridden by Arturo Alvarez for trainer Gilberto Gonzalez.

Four other stakes will be run on Saturday at Delta Downs. Rodney Verret's Special Wild Train B, a stakes-placed son of Freighttrain B, is the early favorite for Saturday's 350-yard, $50,000 Louisiana QHBA Sale Debutante Stakes (R) for state-bred juvenile fillies.

A $20,000 purchase at las year's LQHBA Yearling Sale, Special Wild Train B has banked $19,020 from five races -- all at Delta Downs -- and his record includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Cartel Roses, in the 350-yard, $80,000 Louisiana Juvenile Stakes (R) on July 15. The gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by Rolando Cabrera.

Nine state-bred sophomore fillies are entered in Saturday's 330-yard, $50,000 Audubon Stakes (R).

John T. Sargent's Patty Wagon Train will face stakes company for the first time in the Audubon. A daughter of the PYC Paint Your Wagon stallion BP Wagon Train trained by Guillermo Martinez, the brown filly has won her last two starts against allowance company, including a 250-yard, $27,000 non-winners-of-three allowance dash on July 6.

Patty Wagon Train drew post 2 and will be ridden by Arturo Alvarez.

Emmanuel Hernandez Padilla's Cartel Roses Z will put his three-race win streak on the line in Saturday's 350-yard, $50,000 LQHBA Sale Juvenile Stakes (R) for state-bred 2-year-old colts and geldings.

A $20,000 buy at last year's LQHBA Yearling Sale, Cartel Roses Z has won four of five races and has earned $71,605 -- all at Delta Downs -- ad his win streak includes a neck victory in the 350-yard, $80,000 Louisiana Juvenile Stakes (R) on July 15. The gelded son of Five Bar Cartel drew post 6 and will be ridden by Guadalupe Lucio Jr. for trainer Guillermo Martinez.

San Lorenzeaux, a son of champion Carters Cartel racing for Rogelio Marquez Jr. from the barn of trainer Jesus M. Marquez, will make his 4-year-old season debut in Saturday's 400-yard, $50,000 Mid-City Stakes (RG3).

San Lorenzeaux ended his sophomore campaign with a second-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Special Apollitical, in the 350-yard, $255,000 Sam Houston Derby (G3) at Sam Houston Race Park. All told, the gelding has banked $611,893 from nine races, and his five wins include the 2021 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Down.

San Lorenzeaux drew post 4 and will be ridden by Jasiel Aquino.
