Inaugural Big Easy Futurity Set for Friday at Delta Downs

Fastest qualifier Apollitical Queen heads a field of 10 2-year-olds entered back in Friday's 350-yard, $150,000 Big Easy Futurity at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA–AUGUST 28, 2023–The fastest qualifier from nine trials run on August 10, Wilson One Consulting's Apollitical Queen heads a field of 10 2-year-olds entered back in Friday's 350-yard, $150,000 Big Easy Futurity at Delta Downs.

Apollitical Queen is coming off of a wire-to-wire, 1 1/2-length victory in her trial. The homebred gray daughter of Apollitical Blood has earned $24,240 from five races, all at Delta Downs.

Apollitical Queen drew post 4 and will be ridden by Juan F. Garcia Jr. for trainer Dwayne Breaux.

Trainer David Bustamante will send out Lightning Trend, a graded stakes placed son of Mr Piloto he co-owns with Angelo Potts. The 10th-fastest qualifier, Lightning Trend has banked $42,559 from six starts, and the gelding's record includes a third-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind winner Motion Of Grace, in the July 8, $262,000 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs.

Lightning Trend drew post 8 and will be ridden by Guadalupe Lucio Jr.
