Three Graded Stakes Winners Headline Friday's Lee Berwick Futurity Trials

VINTON, LA–JUNE 20, 2023–Graded stakes winners Eyesa Freighttrain B, San Lorenzo Blood, and One Sweet Sugar are three of the 99 Louisiana-bred juveniles entered in Friday's 350-yard Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) trials at Delta Downs.

Post time for Friday's first race is set for 5:10 p.m. (CDT). The last of the dozen heats is scheduled to go off at 9:45.

A bay son of Freighttrain B trained by Jose R. Espinosa for owner Party Tyme Racing, Eyesa Freighttrain B has won both of his starts during the current Delta Downs meet, including the 330-yard, $280,000 Louisiana Breeders' Laddie Futurity (RG2) on May 27, and he has earned $146,136.

Eyesa Freighttrain B drew post 8 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez in the first trial..

San Lorenzo Blood and One Sweet Sugar are a pair of fillies trained by Jesus M. Marquez for owner Rogelio Marquez Jr. A brown daughter of Apollitical Blood and a $70,000 purchase at last year's LQHBA Yearling Sale, San Lorenzo Blood has banked $196,795 from four races, and the filly's three wins include a 1 1/2-length score in the 300-yard, $365,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs in March.

San Lorenzo Blood drew post 6 and will be ridden by David Alvarez in the fourth heat.

One Sweet Sugar is a homebred daughter of One Sweet Jess. The sorrel filly has earned $196,392 from four outs, and she will be stretching out in distance off of her head victory in the May 26, 330-yard Louisiana Breeders' Lassie Futurity (RG2).

One Sweet Sugar drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jasiel Aquino in the eighth trial.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Friday's trials will meet in the $200,000-added Lee Berwick Futurity final on July 15.
