Grade 2 Winner Chendo Headlines Saturday's Old South Futurity Trials

Grade 2 Louisiana Downs Futurity winner Chendo will head Saturday's 330-yard Old South Futurity trials at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA–APRIL 24, 2023–Chendo, a graded stakes winning son of RC Me Leaving You racing for David Gutierrez, is one of 77 2-year-olds entered in Saturday's 330-yard Old South Futurity trials at Delta Downs.

Chendo has won both of his outs, including the 300-yard, $339,000 Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2) on March 25. A $5,500 purchase at last year's TQHA Yearling Sale, the sorrel gelding has banked $154,371.

Chendo drew the rail post and will be ridden by Eleazar Hernandez for trainer Santiago Villaseca in the fifth of nine trials.

Other Louisiana Downs Futurity finalists entered in the Old South Futurity trials include Francisco J. Garza's Kas Delivers Gl (fifth heat) and Rogelio Marquez Jr.'s San Lorenzita (eighth trial).

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $50,000-added Old South Futurity final on May 20.
