Winner's Circle Church Stakes Set for Thursday at Louisiana Downs

San Lorenzo Jet will be making his first start against aged runners in the $30,000 Winner's Circle Stakes (R) at Louisiana Downs.

BOSSIER CITY, LA–MARCH 25, 2024–Eight state-bred sprinters are entered in Thursday's 350-yard, $30,000 Winner's Circle Stakes (R) at Louisiana Downs.

Rogelio Marquez Jr.'s San Lorenzo Jet will be making his first start against aged runners off of a sophomore campaign during which he earned $100,029 from three races and scored a three-quarter length win in the December 16, $202,000 LQHBA Breeders' Derby (RG3) at Evangeline Downs. Jesus M. Marquez trains the 4-year-old Jet Black Patriot gelding.

San Lorenzo Jet drew post 3 and will be ridden by David Alvarez.

Other contenders include Jose Guzman's Mr Crawfish, a 5-year-old son of Prospect To The Top trained by Brenda Foster. Mr Crawfish will be shortening in distance off of his three-quarter length victory in the December 16, 440-yard Louisiana Champions Day Classic (RG2) at Evangeline Downs.

Mr Crawfish drew post 8 and will be ridden by Rene Hernandez.
