ALEXANDRIA, LA–MARCH 15, 2024–The Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders' Association (LQHBA) announced today Misty Coats will begin her duties as Assistant to the Executive Director on Monday, March 18.

Ms. Coats, a longtime employee of Heritage Place Sale Company in Oklahoma City, and her husband Greg will be moving to Louisiana.

"We are excited to have Misty join the Louisiana Team. I know Misty will be well received by our Members, the LSRC-Louisiana State Racing Commission, and LAHBPA," LQHBA Executive Director Bruce Salard said today. "Misty will play a key role in Louisiana’s breeding and racing integrity programs and  with our legislative agenda."

A graduate of Colorado State University, with an undergraduate degree in Animal Science, Misty previously worked as the Heritage Place Consignment Manager which sold 2,900+ yearlings and mixed sale horses each year.

Misty brings a tremendous amount of experience with QDATA catalog pedigrees as well as the AQHA.  Her experience, energy, and ability to execute will have immediate impact as the LQHBA transitions to the "former" ROBIN GLENN pedigrees for its annual yearling sale.

Since 2019 the LQHBA has maintained a successful working relationship with Heritage Place under Misty’s guidance with the daily operations of the association's August yearling sale.

In addition to Heritage Place, Misty has served as a Sales Manager and Marketing Consultant for national corporations.

"Misty has a demonstrated work ethic and business acumen that will broaden our ability to work with all four Louisiana Tracks as we continue our YEAR ROUND racing program with 153 RACE DAYS scheduled and over $4 MILLION in Breeder Awards paid annually to Breeders of Accredited Louisiana Bred foals," Salard added.

Misty’s husband is retired from the US Marines and has two sons attending the University of Oklahoma.

Last year (2023) Louisiana Quarter Horses raced for approximately $22.5 million in purses.
