Lrh Heart Of Class Scores Third Consecutive Win This Season In $50,000 Mid City Stakes

VINTON, LA–SEPTEMBER 2, 2023–Just coming off a stakes win in her last start, Lrh Heart of Glass dueled for another victory against a short field of six Louisiana-breds in the $50,000 Mid City Stakes at Delta Downs on Saturday.
With Arturo Alvarez controlling the reins, Lrh Heart Of Glass took the lead at first call and held it to the wire for a 1/2-length victory over Mr Crawfish. The daughter of Five Bar Cartel won the 400-yard stakes in :19.964 seconds clocking an 89 speed index, which paid $9.20 to win on 13/5 odds.
Trained by Josue Huitron, Lrh Heart Of Glass has lit the board 15 of 24 starts with nine career wins, including the Flashy Hemp Stakes at Delta Downs in July. The $30,000 winner’s portion of the purse, increases her earnings to $203,132.
Bred by Jetty & Donald Lemaire, Lrh Heart Of Glass is out of the Oak Tree Special mare Lrh Heartofanoak. She is owned by Carlos Campos.
Mr Crawfish, ridden by Rene Hernandez, prevailed for second. The four-time winner sired by Prospect To The Top has banked over $82,000 and is a multiple graded stakes finalist.
Trained by Brenda Foster Mr Crawfish was bred by Tjs Farms, Inc. The Jose Guzman owned gelding is out of Jls Crawfish Pie by The Crawfish.
Jj Heza Fast Dash Jr, ridden by Ricardo Hernandez, Jr., made a late game for show. The five-year-old gelding has six career wins with two stakes victories and $148,338 in the bank.
