Sir Louisiana Dash Posts Fastest Time For Laddie Futurity At Delta Downs


Sir Louisiana Dash, under jockey Luis Vivanco, romped to the fastest qualifying time for the RG2 Louisiana Laddie Futurity at Delta Downs Saturday night.

VINTON, LA—JUNE 13, 2020—Delta Downs closed out the first week of its 2020 American Quarter Horse season on Saturday with a special 18-race program made up of trials for this year’s $357,981 Louisiana Laddie Futurity (RG2).

The fastest time of the day was posted by Rogelio Marquez. Jr.’s Sir Louisiana Dash with jockey Luis Vivanco in the saddle.

Sir Louisiana Dash, who is trained by Jesus Marquez, traveled 330 yards while winning the third trial of the day and posted a time of :16.470 seconds. The clocking equaled a speed index of 99 with an 8 mph tailwind. Each trail on the program was contested over a fast track.

Bred in Louisiana by Tate Farms, Sir Louisiana Dash is a 2-year-old by Sir Runaway Dash, out of the Separatist mare Ms Proverbial. The sorrel gelding was making his career debut in the Laddie trials.

Ought To Go Tee broke his maiden at first asking in trial eight with a very impressive 2-¼ length win that gave him the second fastest qualifying time of :16.513 seconds, a 98 speed index with an 8 mph tailwind.

Trainer Fernando Lopez conditions the son of multiple stakes sire Tee Cos for owners Jose Oviedo. Ronald Gale bred the sorrel gelding form the Bigtime Favorite mare VF Ought To Go Max. The second dam is the stakes winning First To Shine mare Ought To Go shine. This is family of champions Old Habits, Hateful Hanna, Your First Moon, Solvency and Special Leader.

San Lorenzo, a $68,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale repurchase, broke his maiden in his career debut, trial 16, to get the third fastest clocking of :16.708 seconds, a 92 speed index with no wind. The brother to champion aged stallion Open Me A Corona and multiple restricted Grade 2 winner San Lorenzo Corona races for owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. and trainer Jesus Marquez. They also teamed to get tonight's fastest qualifier the aforementioned Sir Louisiana Dash in trial 3.

David Alvarez had the riding call aboard the Jim and Natalie Montgomery bred colt out of In The Open by Mr Eye Opener. This is the family of world champion Wave Carver and champion Ocean Runaway. San Lorenzo sold under the name Coronas In The Open in the 2019 sale.

Lafitte, a $4,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale repurchase, defeated Fm Famous Rock by a nose in the seventh trial to record the fourth fastest time of :15.742 seconds, a 91 speed index with an 8 mph tailwind.

Orlando Orozco saddled the son of multiple stakes sire Sir Runaway Dash for owner Luis Armando Castellanos. Rolando Pina had the riding call on the sorrel colt out of Me And Me Only by Streakin La Jolla. Bred by L. Casterline and E. Aparicio, Lafitte second dam is a stakes winning daughter of Special Effort and his third dam is the world champion See Me Do It.

The aforementioned Fm Famous Rock, a $55,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate, held for the fifth fastest clocking of :16.748 seconds, a 90 speed index. Trainer Robie Meche saddled the son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash for owner Jose Fabian Hernandez.

Sold in the LQHBA Sale under the name Hez Fast N Famous, Fm Famous Rock was bred by Marshall Watson from the First Down Dash mare This Chicks Famous, a half-sister to leading sire champion One Famous Eagle.

Sir Runaway Dash, Heza Fast Dash and Apollitical Blood sired two qualifiers each to the Laddie Futurity final.

Each of the trials on Saturday carried a purse of $10,000 with each winning taking home $6,000. The first-place prize for winning the final on Saturday, July 4 will be $178,990.
