Graded Stakes Winner El Camino Cl Retired to Stud at Spring Hill Farms


Grade 2 stakes winner El Camino Cl from the sire line of Jess Louisiana Blue and The Lousiana Cartel will stand his first season at Spring Hill Farms in 2023.

KAPLAN, LA–OCTOBER 24, 2022–El Camino Cl SI 99, a graded stakes winning son of former leading sire Heza Fast Dash, has been retired and will stand the upcoming breeding season at Spring hill Farms, the farm announced this week. 

His fee has been set at $1,250 but breeders can take advantage of an early booking special of $750 if they pay by February 3.

"Hailing from the sire line of Jess Louisiana Blue and The Louisiana Cartel, El Camino Cl is probably the best bred son of Heza Fast Dash available," Spring Hill Farms David Dunn said. "He is an outstanding individual with all the ingredients to be a top sire, we are excited about the opportunity to offer him to breeders next year."

Campaigned this season by McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC, El Camino Cl was acquired privately last year from breeder Delfino Lozano IV.

El Camino Cl broke his maiden in his first career start then won the restricted Grade 2 Mardi Gras Futurity at Louisiana Downs. He won his first three races then finished third in the $357,981 Laddie Futurity(RG2) at Delta Downs.  He finished his 2-year-old campaign with trial wins in both the $1 million-dollar Lee Berwick Futurity(RG1) and LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity(G1), qualifying for both finals.

At 3, El Camino Cl was second in the LQHBA Breeders Derby(RG3) and fourth in the Delta Downs Louisiana-Bred Derby(RG3) and at 4 was third in the Vals Fortune/Teddy Abrahams, Jr. Stakes(RG2).

El Camino Cl won or placed 11 of 18 career starts and banked $332,553. He was also a finalist in the Eastex Stakes(RG2), Bob Moore Memorial Stakes(G2), Mid City Stakes(RG3), Louisiana Classic Stakes(RG2) and Sam Houston Stakes.

His sire Heza Fast Dash SI 103 is the #8 all-time leading sire of money earners. From 17 crops to race, he has sired 655 winners, 73 stakes winners, 1 champion, and earners of more than $36.6 million.
