16-Year-Old Jockey David Alvarez, Jr. Scores First Career Win On Sunday At Louisiana Downs


Jockey David Alvarez, Jr. rides into the Louisiana Downs winner's circle Sunday afternoon after scoring his first career win aboard Ddeez Kiss My Dash.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—MARCH 21, 2022—David Alvarez, Jr., the 16-year-old son of leading rider David Alvarez, scored his first official career win on Sunday at Louisiana Downs.

David Alvarez, Jr. guided Ddeez Kiss My Dash to his first win in Sunday's second race, a $10,300 Louisiana-Bred Maiden 3-Year-Olds & Up 250 yard race. 

The son of multiple stakes sire Fast Prize Dash completed the distance in :13.858 seconds into a 10 mph headwind.

Trainer Pedro Lopez saddled the brown 3-year-old for owner Jose M. Montoya. DBL Deez Duo LLC bred the winner from the Take On Royalty mare Dashin For Royalty.

Alverez, Jr.'s father was the #7 leading Quarter Horse jockey in the nation last year with earnings of $1.9 million. According to Equibase, since 2006 David Alvarez, Sr. has ridden 1500 winners and earners of more than $20.8 million.
