Entries Due Thursday, April 27th For Delta Downs Schooling Races

Delta Downs will host schooling races on April 29 and 30 for 2-year-olds who remain eligible for the Laddie, Lassie, and Old South Futurities.

Fillies will school on Thursday April 29th with colts, and geldings set for Friday April 30th.

The track will open from 7:00 a.m. — 9:00 a.m. for training. The track will be renovated and schooling races will start at approximately 10 am (CDT). Depending on the number of entries all races may conducted on one day (Thursday, April 29, 2021).

Entries will be takes from 8 to 10 a.m. (CDT) on Tuesday, April 17th for both fillies and colts and gelding. Trainers are reminded Delta must have the correct spelling of the horse's name at time of entry. Rider must also be named at time entry.

A non-refundable $50 Entry Fee will be charged to all owners competing in schooling races. Fees must be on deposit with the Horseman's Bookkeeper or paid to the racing office prior to schooling races. Horses with no fees on deposit will be scratched.

All schooling races will be held at 220 yards. Horses are to be brought to the paddock fully tacked. Riders will be legged up in the paddock.

Delta will be using the P.A. System to inform trainers on when to get horses ready and when to come to the paddock. All horses will be identified in the paddock. Whips will be allowed. All schooling races will be electronically timed.

In addition, all horses must be paid up to date in the Laddie, Lassie or Old South Futurities to participate. All horses must have an OK from the starting gates on file with the racing office prior to entering schooling races. All horses must be tattooed and have their original registration papers or a copy on file in the racing office.

Training Hours

Beginning Friday April 23' and Saturday April 24 Delta Downs racetrack will be open from 6:00 a.m. — 10:00 a.m. Break from 8:00 a.m. — 8:30 a.m. Gates from 7:00 a.m. — 9:30 a.m. (CDT).

Monday April 26 through Wednesday April 28 normal training hours.

Thursday April 29 and Friday April 30 training will be from 7:00 a.m. -- 9:00 a.m. Break from 9:00 a.m. — 10:00 a.m. Schooling races will start at 10:00 a.m. (CDT).

Zero Date

Horses must be registered with their registration certificates, current Coggins and negative Equine Piroplasmosis test for Theileria equi, taken within the past 12 months, in the racing office by 3 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021 to receive a "0" date.
