ALEXANDRIA, LA–AUGUST 29, 2024-The Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association (LQHBA) will award three $1,000 scholarships to further the education of Louisiana students on Saturday, September 14, at Fair Grounds.

The exciting final program of the 2024 Quarter Horse racing season will feature several quality stakes, including the $50,000 LQHBA Sale Juvenile, $50,000 LQHBA Debutante, and $550,000 LQHBA Sale Futurity.

The scholarship drawings will be awarded as part of a very special afternoon saluting accredited Louisiana-bred racehorses.

Scholarship entrants must be Louisiana High School graduates or students graduating in 2024 or 2025 who plan to attend a higher education institution.

Louisiana residents enrolled in a Louisiana college are also eligible. Students may sign up at the LQHBA Scholarship Registration Table (located at the foot of the escalator on the casino level), beginning at 11:00 am. Registration will close after the fourth race and scholarships will be drawn live in the winner’s circle after race five by LQHBA board members. Students must be present to win. More information on the scholarship eligibility can be found on LQHBA.com.

While the primary goal of the LQHBA is breeding and racing in Louisiana, the association remains committed to supporting education for Louisiana students. Since its inception in 2001, the LQHBA scholarship program has provided over $850,000 for students who wish to attend a higher education institution.

"Our association takes great pride in the LQHBA Scholarship Program and assisting Louisiana students wishing to further their education," said Bruce Salard, LQHBA executive director. "We enjoy meeting these students and their families and are sure they will enjoy a great afternoon of racing at the  historic Fair Grounds Race Course on Saturday, September 14."
