Dr. Larry Findley, Robin Glenn, Butch Wise are Honored as AQHA Racing Special Achievement Winners

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–JANUARY 17, 2024–No industry can move forward without the hard work and dedication from its members, and each year the American Quarter Horse Association recognizes key figures who have assisted the racing industry.

For 2023, the John Andreini Special Recognition Award goes to Dr. Larry Findley, the Mildred N. Vessels Special Achievement Award to Robin Glenn and the Gordon Crone Special Achievement Award to Butch Wise.

These recipients were recognized January 17 during the AQHA Racing Champions Announcement Ceremony at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Larry Findley has served the American Quarter Horse racing industry for decades, and is honored with the John Andreini Special Recognition Award, which is given to an individual who profoundly benefits the Quarter Horse racing industry. Dr. Findley is an AQHA life member, AQHA director, and a member of the AQHA Racing Council, AQHA Racing Committee and LQHBA board. Dr. Findley from a very limited number of starters has in his own name bred the earners of more than $100,000.

The newest recipient of the Mildred N. Vessels Special Achievement award is Robin Glenn, a pioneer in the American Quarter Horse industry who founded and shepherded a sale catalog and pedigree business vital to the industry for decades.

Glenn launched her Robin Glenn Pedigrees more than 40 years ago, and today the company, now owned by AQHA and rebranded as QData, provides catalog pages for major sales and records the performance earnings for stock horses across industries and breeds.

Butch Wise was named the 2023 Gordon Crone Special Achievement Award winner. © AQHA

The highly decorated AQHA Past President Butch Wise earns another recognition with the Gordon Crone Special Achievement award. Wise is a longtime AQHA director and has served on a number of committees, as well as being a past president of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association.

He is a member of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse and Remington Park halls of fame. Under the name of his Stone Chase Stables LLC, he raced champion Shockinglyfamous, among many other horses.
