Evangeline Downs American Quarter Horse Season Opens On October 6

The main event for the 2021 season is the $1,000,000 LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity(RG1). The richest race in Louisiana, regardless of breed, was won by San Lorenzo in 2020. Trials for the Million will take place on Friday, November 26, with the finals taking place on Saturday, December 18.
Trials for the $150,000-added LQHBA Sale Futurity are scheduled for Friday, October 8, with the finals slated for Saturday, October 30. A Double Corona set a track record in winning the 2020 renewal.
The $100,000-added Evangeline Downs Futurity trials are scheduled for Friday, December 3, with the $50,000-added Evangeline Downs Derby trials the following night December 4. Finals for both events will take place on closing night Thursday, December 30.
The racing calendar will be on a Wednesday through Saturday schedule from opening night October 6, until the week of November 27, with a dark day on Thanksgiving. The second half of the schedule features a Tuesday through Saturday schedule beginning November 30 until the week of Christmas. Evangeline Downs will be dark on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Closing week will begin on Monday, December 27 and conclude on Thursday, December 30. First post each night is scheduled for 5:35pm Central Time.
