OPELOUSAS, LA—SEPTEMBER 11, 2020—The beginning of the American Quarter Horse season at Evangeline Downs had been scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 17. Following a unanimous 10-0 vote by the Louisiana State Racing Commission on Wednesday, the start date of the season will now be Thursday, October 1.

The first 10 days of the season will still be the 10 days of racing that had originally been scheduled to be raced at Fair Grounds in New Orleans. The opening night program has already been drawn and those races will be the trials for the $450,000-estimated LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1), the final of which will be run on Thursday, October 22.

The next entry day for the races at Evangeline Downs will be Thursday, September 24 and those races will be run on Friday, October 2. The current condition book will be used with an updated entry schedule corresponding to the new calendar available shortly.
