Quarter Horses Return to Training at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA—APRIL 15, 2020—Quarter Horses were back on track this morning at Delta Downs after the track finally reopened following an order issued April 11, by the Honorable Judge Sharon Wilson of the 14th Judicial District Court, ordering three racetracks in the state to allow horsemen to begin training again after Boyd Gaming had gotten temporary restraining order keeping horses off the tracks.

The last time horses had been allowed to train at any of the state's facilities was March 21. Evangeline and Louisiana Downs both opened for training on Monday.

Delta's training schedule released this morning to the LAHBPA are as follows:

  • Monday: 7 AM to 10 AM (No Break)
  • Wednesday: 7 AM to 10 AM (No Break)
  • Friday: 7 AM to 10 AM (No Break)
  • Saturday: 7 AM to 10 AM (No Break), Clocker

Louisiana Downs released the following training schedule last Saturday (April 11):

  • Monday 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Break from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM)
  • Wednesday 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Break from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM)
  • Friday 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Break from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM)
  • Saturday 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Break from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM)
