Marcos Carrizales Named Rising Star Trainer Award Winner For 2019

DALLAS, TX— JANUARY 30, 2020—The 2019 All American Futurity(G1) winning trainer Marcos Carrizales has been named the first recipient of the StallioneSearch Rising Star Trainer Award for 2019.
A panel made up of Ruidoso Racehorse Hall of Fame trainer Russell Harris, 14-time AQHA World Champion trainer Paul Jones, 2017 AQHA World Champion trainer Kenneth "Kenny" Roberts, Sr. analyzed along with StallioneSearch analyzed and voted on the candidates for the inaugural award presentation of the Rising Star Trainer Award. Carrizales was a unanimous choice of the panel as the 2019 recipient and he was also a nominee for the 2019 AQHA Racing Champion trainer award.
Carrizales made racing headlines several times this year with multiple top runner scoring big victories in stakes events this year. He finished third in earnings amongst Quarter Horse trainers in 2019 with a total of $2,226,307 from 98 starts.
His tally of 17 victories in 2019 was headed by Mr Jess Jenkins victory in the 2019 All American Futurity(G1) at Ruidoso Downs on Labor Day. The 23-year-old trainer also saddled Mr Jess Jenkins to victory in the Southwest Juvenile Invitational Championship Stakes(G2) at Zia Park to close out his 2-year old campaign.
Another top Carrizales trained runner in 2019 was Mi Amor Secreto, runner-up finisher in the $600,000 Champion of Champions(G1) at Los Alamitos Race Course. In September of 2019, Mi Amor Secreto powered to victory in the Downs At Albuquerque Quarter Horse Championship to gain a berth into the Champion of Champions(G1).
The Carrizales trained American Hussle qualified into the field of the 2019 All American Derby(G1) and finished fifth under 2019 AQHA Racing Champion Jockey James Flores in the final.
In an effort to promote the growth in the sport of Quarter Horse racing amongst the younger generation of horsemen and horsewomen, StallioneSearch announced the creation of the StallioneSearch Rising Star Award's on Christmas Day of 2019 to reward excellence in achievement on the racetrack from young, up and coming trainers, jockeys, and first-crop sires.
In accordance with the awards process of the AQHA, only trainers in good standing with the AQHA, and who had not received a medication violation during the year of racing are eligible for the award. The trainer and jockey award winners will be under the age of 30 and will be within the first five-years of their career.
