LQHBA 2018 Champion Awards Banquet Set Saturday at Evangeline Downs
The annual awards banquet in held in conjunction with voting of officers from the LQHBA membership every year. Early voting begins at 2pm (CDT) in the events center where the banquet is to be held. Voting continues until 6pm and is for LQHBA members only.
The banquet festivities start at 5pm with the seating and mingling of banquet attendees, followed by the opening of the meeting at 6pm by current LQHBA president Ryan Robicheaux.
Newly appointed Executive Director Bruce Salard will also be attendance, and is expected to briefly address the LQHBA attending members before the awards ceremony begins.
In addition to crowning of the 2018 Louisiana Quarter Horse racing champions on Saturday night, deceased sire Mr Jess Perry and long-time horseman J.E. Jumonville, Jr. will be inducted into the LQHBA Hall Of Fame. Greg Thompson of StallioneSearch.com will again serve as awards banquet emcee.
About the Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association (LQHBA)
LQHBA is the state racing affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association. It is also the official registry for accredited Louisiana-bred racing Quarter Horses and is recognized by the Louisiana Legislature and the Louisiana State Racing Commission. Since its inception in 1966, the association has developed a number of programs to further breeding and racing in Louisiana. Last year, purses in Louisiana totaled approximately $21 million, and breeders' incentives for mares and stallions exceeded $5 million. LQHBA oversees the annual LQHBA Yearling Sale and Fall Mixed Sale and has raised and donated over $570,000 to support its Louisiana youth scholarship program.
