BOSSIER CITY, LA–JANUARAY 26, 2023–On Saturday, January 21, Louisiana horseman Preston Jourdan sent Tuckers Prize out to the racetrack for the 43rd time.

The 7-year-old gelding surged to the wire of the 300 yard allowance in :15.523 seconds under jockey Ubaldo Luna and into the winner’s circle for the 15th time for his proud owner and trainer.

The son of Fast Prize Dash out of the Game Patriot mare BB Secrets Game came to Jourdan courtesy of a very generous gesture from his friend, breeder Kirby Bruchhaus. Tuckers Prize did not meet his reserve bid in the 2017 LQHBA Yearling Sale, so Preston got a call from Kirby asking if he would like the brown gelding.

"I sent my son to pick him up," recalled Jourdan. "He called me and said ‘Dad, I think you’re going to like this one.’ We broke him and he won his first race on May 18, 2018 at Delta Downs."

Jourdan admits that he had no idea that Tuckers Prize would go on to win 14 races, including the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Quarter Horse Derby (G3) at Fair Grounds in 2019 and finish second in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic the following year.

"He’s a very sound horse and really likes his job," explained Jourdan.

The most recent victory meant a lot to the entire family. With a record of 15-7-7, Tuckers Prize has earned $294,545, and he’s not done yet! He will make his next start on February11 at Louisiana Downs in the $25,000 Mr Jess Perry.

"This horse has been a blessing to us," said Jourdan. "Everyone loves him; he’s had the same groom since he began his career and is always game. It’s hard to ask for anything more!
