Lifeinthefastlanes Stays Perfect With New Track Record In LQHBA Breeders Derby

OPELOUSAS, LA—DECEMBER 19, 2020—Lifeinthefastlanes finished her 3-year-old season with a perfect 5-for-5 season after posting a track record setting performance in the $273,763 LQHBA Breeders' Derby(RG3) Saturday night at Evangeline Downs. Jockey David Alvarez won his second consecutive stakes on Saturday's card when he guided Lifeinthefastlanes to a three-quarter length win over Love The Way You Fly.

The daughter of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue established a new EVD track record of :19.300 seconds for 400 yards with a 4 mph tailwind on sloppy (sealed) racetrack to earn a 105 speed index.

Champion trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. conditions the brown filly for owners Jason Richards and Michael Leblanc.

"We have always thought A lot of her," Roberts said after tonight's win. "It was tough last year when she broke through the gate and lost all chances, but we took our time and I think she is the real deal."

"She's got a huge heart and has a heck of a kick. She broke decent and when she gets out, we know she will win," co-owner Richards said. "Kenny worked with her; he is the best when it comes to patience. With Kenny, you go into it needing a great trainer and get a world class trainer."

Bred by Kay and Wade Loup, Jr., from the Panther Mountain mare Pantherinthefastlane, Lifeinthefastlanes has compiled a (10) 8-0-1 record and the $121,825 winner's purse boosted the filly's earnings total to more than $390,000. She also won the Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Derby(RG3) and Vinton Stakes this season.

Love The Way You Fly finished second for owner Todd Matte and trainer Trey Ellis. Juan Garcia, Jr. rode the Furyofthewind colt out of Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Lovethewayyoulie by Tempting Dash. The $60,228 increased the sorrel colt's earnings to $140,211. Copper Spring Ranch, LLC is the breeder.

Fausto G. Mendoza's Swamp Eagle was three-quarters back to earn $30,114 for third. Joel Huitron saddled the Heza Fast Dash gelding out of Gee Whit by One Famous Eagle. Ubaldo Luna had the riding call aboard the $84,556 earner. David O. Dunn is the breeder.

Taylor Made Cartel, Jrs Coronas Toast, Lto Thumbs Up, Top Notch, Sir Runway Cash, Apollitical B Snow and Leavin You Blue completed the field.
