Lifeinthefastlanes Stays Perfect 4-for-4 In 2020 With Delta Downs Louisiana-Bred Derby Win

VINTON, LA—AUGUST 22, 2020—Lifeinthefastlanes kept her 2020 season a perfect 4-for-4 when she held off Special Politico by a head to win the $276,825 Delta Downs Louisiana-Bred Derby(RG3) Saturday night at Delta Downs.

Under jockey David Alvarez Lifeinthefastlanes broke quick and jumped to a one-length lead down the inside rail at the halfway point before completing the 400 yards in :19.533 seconds, a 97 speed index.

The super-talented daughter of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue got her first stakes win in the Vinton Stakes two races back for trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. and owners Jason Richards and Michael Leblanc.

"I told people right from the start that this is the fastest film we have ever had, co-owner Richards said after the win. "She was a little goofy as a 2-year-old, We had some trouble in the gates, but Kenny has spent a lot of time with her. Kenny has figured out a way and it's made all the difference in the world!"

Bred by Kay and Wade Loup, Jr., from the Panther Mountain mare Panthersinthefastlane, Lifeinthefastlanes has compiled a (8) 6-0-1 record. Tonight's $138,141 winners' purse nearly doubled her bankroll to $264,006.

"She's just one of those horses you have to spend a lot of time with," Roberts said. "I have super owners who believe in me. They let me guide them."

Last season Lifeinthefastlanes was third in the Lassie Futurity(RG2) and a finalist in the LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity(RG1).

Runner-up Special Politico picked up $47,061 for this effort. Trainer Miguel Rodriguez saddled the son of a leading second-crop sire Apollitical Blood for owner OB Horses, LLC. Jim and Natalie Montgomery bred the sorrel gelding from the Eyesa Special mare Sweetness Special. Jorge Linares was aboard the $131,781 earner who was also finalist in the 2020 LQHBA Louisiana Million Futurity(RG1).

Last year's two-time futurity winner Hh Gailforce finished three-quarters back to earn $27,683 for third. Joel Cantu conditions the Mardi Gras and Lassie Futurity(RG2) winner for the Egoizzta Partnership. Bred by Harvey Hayes, form the First Prize Perry mare Open My Prize, Hh Gailforce has banked nearly $209,000. Luis Ruiz was riding.

Jess U R Blue, Love The Way You Fly, Run Away Cache, Barnett Cartel, Tdz Jet Black Down, Apollitical Winner and Ed O completed the field.
