Mag 1 Uses Late Rush To Win Flying Breed Stakes


Mag 1 (#8), under jockey Rolando Cabrera, gets up over The Cazador (#3) in the $50,000 Flying Breed Stakes Saturday at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—AUGUST 22, 2020—Mag 1, under jockey Rolando Cabera, used a late rush to catch The Cazador by a nose in the $50,000 Flying Breed Stakes Saturday night at Delta Downs.

Saddled by trainer Katie Carlos, Mag 1 completed the 220 yards in a quick :11.630 clocking to record a 103 speed index. It was the fifth career win in nine starts for the son of Mr Jess Kue.

Mag 3 Racing owns the bay gelding out of Oak Tree Chic by Oak Tree Special. The $30,000 winner's purse boosted his bankroll to $98,320. H&M Racing is the breeder.

Runner-up The Cazador snapped a three-race win-streak settling for the $10,000 second-place payday. Michael Zingelmann trains the Sir Runaway Dash 5-year-old for owner Rayne Knight. Bred by Zingelmann and Curtis Crewnwelge, The Cazador has earned $212,195. Donald Watson rode the gelding out of Told Ya by Toast To Dash.

On Point, a 4-year-old Five Bar Cartel gelding racing for T M Ranch finished half-a-length back to pick up $5,500 for third. Jockey David Alvarez had the riding call for trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. Ryan and Jude Robicheaux bred the $89,832 earner from the Streakin La Jolla mare La Jollan Queen.

Rf Fast Dash N Blue, Hot Prize, Brileys Prize, Mardi Gras Paint, Ms Diamond Prize, Five Bar Fast and Mr Sixy Piloto completed the field.
