BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 4, 2020—Harrah’s Louisiana Downs kicked off its 2020 American Quarter Horse season on Saturday afternoon with sunny skies and two excellent fields competing in two divisions of the $15,000 Harrah’s Dash.

In the second division, trainer Ray Mayo also won his first stakes as a conditioner when Peytons Last Dash dominated his eight rivals. Claimed last July at Delta Downs for $10,000 by owner Rosendo Valdez, he made his first start off the layoff in fine form under veteran jockey John Hamilton.

“I wanted to give him a break and bring him back freshened,” said Mayo. “As a former jockey, I felt that John would fit him well. He gave him a perfect ride; never touched his stick. It was a great win for us!”
