Jess Adalida Scores Back-to-Back Stakes Victories With French Quarter Win


Jess Adalida, under jockey Antonio Alberto, easily winning the $35,000 French Quarter Stakes Saturday afternoon at Fair Grounds Race Course.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—SEPTEMBER 7, 2019—Jess Adalida was speed all the way under jockey Antonio Alberto to defeat Mia Jet In by half-a-length in the $35,000 French Quarter Stakes Saturday afternoon at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans. Ajs Corona Chicks finished three-quarter back in third.

The Josue Ponce conditioned 4-year-old filly raced over the 330 yards in :16.158 seconds, equaling a 103 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind. It was the ninth career win in 17 starts for the daughter of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue. The $15,000 winner's purse increased her bankroll to over $170,000.

Ruben Garcia Montemayor owns the California-bred filly out of Wortherweightingold by First Down Dash. Double Bar S Ranch LLC is the breeder. She entered the race off a win in the Selma Stakes at Retama Park on July 4.

Lester Colomb's Alabama homebred Mia Jet In earned $5,000 for second. Kenneth Weeks trains the multiple stakes-placed daughter of Jet Black Patriot from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Pyc First Prize Mia. Luciano Duenez had the riding call aboard the $96,103 earner.

Trey Willis saddled third-place finisher Ajs Corona Chick for owner/breeder Arnold Trahan. The daughter of Ajs Fast Dash, from the Valiant Hero mare Sheza Valiant Chick, was ridden by jockey Benito Baca. She earned $3,50 for the effort.

Fastdashing Lassie, Amending The Bar, Shonuff Mvp, Jess Run Corona and First Game Chick completed the field.
