Bye The Man In Black Fastest, Heath Taylor Saddles Three Winners In Delta Downs Training Races Thurs


Delta Downs hosted eight training races for 2-year-old colts and geldings on Thursday.

VINTON, LA—APRIL 4, 2019—Originally set for 11am this morning (Thursday), Delta Downs pushed an eight-race 220 yard training card for 2-year-old colts and geldings to 5pm due to inclement weather.

Bye The Man In Black, a $7,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale Graduate, under jockey Jose Ariel Rodriguez, posted the fastest clocking of :12.094 seconds over a "wet fast" training surface in the opening race.

Saddled by trainer Henry West, Jr., the son of multiple stakes sire Dashin Bye races for owner Daniel Herrera. The black colt is out of Ed Burke Memorial Futurity(G1) finalist Sign Here Please by Chicks Beduino. He defeated Barnett Cartel (:12.190), a $40,000 LQHBA graduate and Moonocracy (:12.245), the all-time high-selling Louisiana-bred Yearling at $210,000 in Race 1.

Trainer Heath Taylor, who had two winners on Wednesday's filly training card at Delta, saddled three more winners tonight including second fastest Rf Debs Patriot, who stopped the clock in :12.132 seconds.

Jockey Randy Edison had the riding call aboard the $50,000 LQHBA Yearling graduate in Race 5 for owner The Horse Force LLC. Rf Debs Patriot is a gelded son of multiple stakes sire Jet Black Patriot from the RG1-placed Heza Fast Dash mare Fast Dash N Deb. He is half-brother to stakes winner McM Fast Dashin Blue.

Taylor got his second winner in the very next race (6) when Five Bar Follies posted a :12.282 time for the 220 yards. The son of last year's leading first-crop sire Five Bar Cartel is also owned by The Horse Force LLC.

Antonio Alberto rode the $50,000 LQHBA repurchase out of the Tempting Dash mare Six Figure Follies, a half-sister to six black type including leading sires Pyc Paint Your Wagon and Ivory James.

Taylors third winner on Thursday was Adame Racing LLC's Jet Black Patriot gelding Glazee. Alberto was also aboard the $13,000 LQHBA repurchase out of Elealicious by First Down Dash. He clocked a time of :12.435 seconds for the 220 yards.
