Kenny Roberts Heads Delta Training Races Wednesday, Saddles Two Fastest and Four Winners


Delta Downs hosted eight training races for 2-year-old Quarter Horse fillies on Wednesday.

VINTON, LA—APRIL 3, 2019—AQHA Racing Champion Trainer Kenneth L. Roberts, Sr. saddled four winners at Delta Downs Wednesday on an eight-race 220 yards training card for fillies that included the two fastest of the day.

Roberts sent out $41,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate Lifeinthefastlane in Race 6 for owners Jason Richard and Michael J. Leblanc. Ridden by jockey David Alvarez the Jess Louisiana Blue filly daylighted her field by two-lengths while posting the top mark of :12.057 seconds, from the 50 fillies who participated today.

Sold in the 2018 LQHBA Yearling Sale in the Running Broke Ranch consignment, under the name Changinglanes, the brown filly is out of multiple stakes winner Panterninthefastlane. The second dam is the Grade 3 winning Takin On The Cash mare Sheza Neon Rose, a sister to Grade 3 winner Pure Oklahoma, the dam of Rainbow Derby(G1) winner Houdini.

Jockey John Hamilton had the ride for Roberts aboard Southside Girl in Race 7 to get the second fastest time of :12.167. The daughter of second-crop sire Patriot Cartel races in the name Kenny Roberts-Coach. The $3,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale repurchase is out of the A Regal Choice mare Surfin In Stilettos, a half-sister to stakes winners A Lil Tres Seis and Jess The Facts.

Roberts third winner Princess Win A Lota, a $50,000 LQHBA Yearling graduate posted the fourth fastest clocking of :12.247 in Race 3. The daughter of leading sire Freighttrain B races for Chad Hart and Bobby D. Cox. She is out of the Jet Black Patriot mare Shannons Grace.

The trainer also saddled Race 2 winner Apollitical Toni, a daughter of leading first-crop sire Apollitical Blood from the Heza Fast Dash mare RL Toni Lynn. Owned by Bold Endeavor Racing she posted a :12.48 clocking. She was a $10,500 repurchase in last summer's LQHBA sale.

Heath Taylor was the only other trainer with more than one win on today's card—getting Blue Forrtune in the first race and Real Political in the fourth.

Blues Forrtune, a $47,000 LQHBA graduate, races for owner The Horse Force LLC. She is by Jess Louisiana Blue and is the first foal of multiple stakes Cartels Fortune by Carters Cartel.

Taylor second winner was Real Political, a half-sister to stakes winners Icanonlyemagine, Streakin Illusively, Unquestionable, Unrealistic and Illusioneer. The daughter of Apollitical Blood, out of the Dash For Cash mare Real Or Imagined, stopped the clock in :12.27 seconds.

Apollitical Blood, Jess Louisiana Blue and Patriot Cartel sired two winners each on Wednesday.
