Fair Grounds Hosts Trio of Stakes on Saturday's Card


Bobby D. Cox's Jessa Louisiana Zoom collects another stakes win in Saturday's $50,000 Treme Stakes at the Fair Grounds Race Course.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—AUGUST 20, 2016—Two $50,000 stakes and another for $40,000 were contested on Saturday for Quarter Horses at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.

Jessa Louisiana Zoom Takes Treme Stakes

Bobby D. Cox's multiple graded stakes winner Jessa Louisiana Zoom put in a strong finish under jockey Donald Watson to defeat Corona Together by half-a-length in the $50,000 Treme Stakes at the Fair Grounds Race Course. Zoominforgrady finished a nose back in third.

Conditioned by trainer Kenny Roberts, Sr., Jessa Louisiana Zoom collected her first stakes win since Cox purchased the filly late last year. The filly completed the 350 yards in :17.388 seconds against a 4 mph cross wind to earn a 97-speed index.

Bred by Lyle Guillory, from the Azoom mare Zoomin For Cash, Jessa Louisiana Zoom has compiled a (10) 6-3-0 record and banked more than $605,000. She earned $30,000 for her Treme Stakes victory today.

A 3-year-old son of Coronas Leaving You, Corona Together races for owner Joseph Landreneau and trainer Kelli Smith. Donald Aymond and David Bates, Jr. bred Corona Together from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jesstogether. The $10,000 runner-up payday boosted his total mark just shy of $55,000. Rolando Cabrera was riding.

Zoominforgrady ran willing down the inside rail to bank $5,500 for third. Guadalupe Tristan saddled the Zoomin For Bux gelding for owner Triple C Racing Stables, LLC. Dr. Dudley Chewning bred the brown gelding from the First Down Jewel mare Supers First Jewel. Juan Marquez was aboard the graded stakes-placed earner of $63,341.

Miss Mallard Struts, Super Sonic Patriot, Magic Black Jack and Jet Black Rogue completed the field.

Oak Hill Streak Extends Win Streak to Four With Audubon Win

Vanessa Bartoo's Heza Fast Dash filly Oak Hill Streak extended her win streak to four—including three consecutive stakes—by defeating Rbd Jessaswngin by three-quarters in the $50,000 Audubon Stakes Saturday afternoon.

Under jockey Gilbert Ortiz, the 4-year-old covered the 350 yards in :17.482 seconds, a 95-speed index into a 5 mph crosswind. John Stinebaugh conditions the filly out of Streakin Amber, by Streakin La Jolla.

Bred by Arnold Trahan, Oak Hill Streak has compiled a (11) 7-1-1 record and pocketed $30,000 today to bring her bankroll total to $146,610.

No match for the winner, Rbd Jessaswingin earned $10,000 for owner Jaime Gutierrez. Guadalupe Garza, Jr. trains the Swingin Jess filly out of Furby by Royal Quick Dash. Alfonso Lujan was aboard the RB & Dox' Stables bred filly. The multiple stakes-placed runner has earned $106,598.

Multiple graded stakes winner Scooter Prize got the nod for the show, picking up $5,500 for owner/trainer Martin Trejo. John Leger bred the First Prize Perry 5-year-old from the A Royale High mare Royal Baby Scooter. David Alvarez rode the 10-time winner of over $326,000.

First Corona, Telarosa, Corona And Jewels and Heza No Bay completed the field. Jet Black Rogue was scratched.

Shades Of Buck Digs In For Gentilly Dash Victory

Shades Of Buck, under jockey Damian Martinez, dug in late to defeat Snipes And Bites by a neck in the $40,000 Gentilly Dash at Fair Grounds Race Course Saturday afternoon. Scoopies Leaving You finished a nose back in a blanket to finish to get third.

Making his first start this season Shades Of Buck completed the 250 yard dash in :13.138 seconds, a 91 speed index into a 4 mph crosswind. Trainer Adrian Huitron saddled the Game Patriot 3-year-old for owner H & R Roofing. Facing older horses for the first time in his career, the Edward Taylor Louisiana-bred picked up $24,00 to boost his bankroll to $65,300.

Out of the Teller Cartel mare Shaded Sins, the black gelding has compiled a (9) 3-1-0 record.

A multiple stakes-placed son of Vrrroom, Snipes And Bites picked up $6,000 for his second place effort. Jose Sanchez trains the Texas-bred for owner Pete Scarmardo. Bred by Him and Marilyn Helzer, from the Corona For Me mare Br Corona Sensation, Snipes And Bites has earned $68,256. Randy Edison was up. Jim and Marilyn Hezler is the breeder.

Graded stakes winner Scoopies Leaving You drifted in late under jockey Donald Watson. Kevin Broussard saddled the earner of $273,080 for owner Joel Galindo. Gerald Libersat bred the Coronas Leaving You 5-year-old from the Toast To Dash mare Ms Scoopies Toast. He earned $4,400 for the effort.

T Boy G, Pyc First Prize Mia, Jw Divino, Chicks Leaving You, Runaway Canyon and Rosouti completed the field.
