Marfilous Posts Fastest Time For Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity

Marfilous, under jockey David Alvarez, setting the fastest time for the $271,950 Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity at Delta Downs Saturday night.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from 53 two-year-olds who participated in tonight's 350 yards trial races, will return to Delta Downs on Saturday, July 2 to vie for the winner's share of a $271,950 purse.

Racing for owner/trainer Martin Trejo, Marfilous dueled fellow qualifier Leaveafamousmemory to get the top qualifying mark of :17.689 seconds into a 5 mph crosswind on a muddy (sealed) racetrack.

Jockey David Alvarez rode the Texas-bred daughter of Ivory James to her second win in three starts. Bred by Bobby Cox, from the Ocean Runaway mare Verrsace, Marfilous has earned $16,708.

The royally-bred Platinum FDD picked up his third win four starts in the fourth trial under jockey Damian Martinez. Adrian Huitron conditions the son of First Down Dash for owner/breeder Jesus Huitron.

Co-bred by Vessels Stallion Farm LLC, from the multiple stakes winner Eyesa Jumpn by Eyesa Special, Platinum FDD won by one-length while getting the second fastest clocking of :17.710 seconds.

Coming off a maiden win May 5th at Delta Downs, Dash For A Lil Cash went 2-for-2 in the final trial for owner Erin Chrisman Goings. The son of champion/champion sire Tempting Dash is the first of three qualifiers for trainer Michael Taylor.

Gilbert Ortiz rode the Texas-bred out of Kerrys Lil Jess to a nose win over Carmel Diamond and the third fastest time of :17.788 seconds. Narciso Flores is the breeder.

Taylor also saddled 5th qualifier Jen And Vodka, a One Sweet Jess filly who won the fifth trial in :17.814 seconds and 7th qualifier Jess Cruzin The Mall, a Spit Curl Jess filly who won the second trial in :17.856 seconds.
