VINTON, LA—APRIL 25, 2015—Delta Downs hosted 14 trials for this year’s $283,382 Louisiana Laddie Futurity (RG2) on Saturday night. The fastest time of the evening was posted by Juan A. Medina’s Shades Of Buck, who traveled 330 yards over a fast track in :16.799 seconds while winning the fifth heat of the night.

After suffering some bad racing luck at Louisiana Downs during the first two starts of his career, Shades Of Buck enjoyed a clean trip in his Delta Downs debut under jockey Randy Edison. The Miguel Rodriguez trainee came away from the gate smartly before dueling for the lead with Ttt Kas Baby Said So and eventually driving a length clear of his rival at the finish line. His running time equaled a speed index of 88.

Bred in Louisiana by C. Edward Taylor, Shades Of Buck is a 2-year-old black gelding by Game Patriot out of the Teller Cartel mare Shaded Sins. Shades Of Buck was purchased in 2014 for $7,500 by his connections at the LQHBA Yearling Sale. The third dam is Kindergarten Futurity winner and All American Futurity producer Dash Again, by Dash For Cash.

Jess Blueby Lena, a full brother to 2012 Laddie Futurity(G2) winner Jess Blue Lena, posted the second fastest time :16.806 seconds after defeating Dragon Kid by a nose in the fourth trial. Coming of a maiden win at Louisiana Downs on March 14, Jess Blueby Lena races for owner Rosalio Espinosa and trainer Martin Trejo.

Hall L. Davis IV bred the colt by champion and grade 1 sire Jess Louisiana Blue from the Call Me Together mare Call Me Lenas Girl. David Alvarez had the riding call.

Dragon Kid held onto the third fastest time of :16.812. Trainer Jose Garcia saddled the first-time starter for owner Guadalupe Jose Perez. Eddi Martinez had the riding call aboard the Dragon Wings gelding out of the Thoroughbred mare Lucille's Winnie, by Mom's Little Guy. Gerald Hebert is the breeder.

Coronas Leaving You was the only sire with multiple qualifiers getting 6th qualifier The Renaissance Man and 8th qualifier Heisa Hot Ticket.
