Louisana-Bred 2-Year-Olds Debut In Mardi Gras Schooling Races


Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds made their racing debut in 14 schooling races conducted on Friday at Louisiana Downs near Bossier City.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 31, 2015—Newly turned two-year-old Quarter Horses made their racing debuts Friday at Louisiana Downs during 14 schooling races over 220 yards held for 82 Louisiana-breds who are eligible for next months $100,000-added Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2).

Mps Rappin For Bux posted the top time, however Race 12 was hand-timed due to a malfunction of the tracks timing system. G. Garza saddled the Zoomin For Bux filly for owner Guerrero Rafael Garcia of Tyler, Texas. Filberto Maldonado rode the brown miss, out of Rap Sheet by Heza Fast Dash, to a time of :12.20. Mps Rappin For Bux was a $3,000 repurchase from the Hebert Quarter Horse, Inc. consignment in the LQHBA Yearling Sale last August.

Omar Mascorro's homebred Heza Fast Dash gelding Fast Dashing Crystal was a half-length winner in the 11th race over Ld Stoli Valentine to post the fastest clocking by the track's timer at :12.380 seconds for the 220 yards. Jaime Hernandez conditions the brown gelding out of Shimmering Crystal, by Separatist.

Jacob Smith's Bonnies Own Fortune was a three-quarter length winner in the 10th race to get the second fastest clocking of :12.383. Steven Salazar saddled the Game Patriot daughter of My Own Fortune, by Six Fortunes. Bred by Kenny Fletcher, Bonnies Own Fortune was a $14,000 LQHBA Sale Yearling from the consignment of S&E Prepping. Jorge Linares was up.

Micmac Warrior kicked the schooling day off in the first race with the third fastest timed clocking of :12.424. The $24,000 LQHBA summer yearling from the Robicheaux Ranch, Inc Agent consignment is owned by We All In Racing LLC and trained by Trey Ellis. Patton Farms bred the Heza Fast Dash gelding from the Village Hero mare Sneaking N Dashing.

Trials for the 2015 300 yard $250,000-est. Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) will be held Saturday, February 21. The 10 fastest qualifiers will return Saturday, March 14 to compete in the industry's first official Quarter Horse Futurity of 2015.
