Grade 3 Winner First Prize Shaunda Kicks Off 2015 With Harrah's Dash Victory


Fast Prize Shaunda, under jockey John Hamilton, defeats Rosouti in Saturday's Harrah's Dash at Louisiana Downs.

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 10, 2015—Multiple stakes winner First Prize Shaunda kicked off her 5-year-old racing campaign Saturday with a half-length victory over Rosouti in the $15,000 Harrah's Dash Stakes at Louisiana Downs. Tf Eyes R Struttin finished three-quarters back in the show position.

Jockey John Hamilton hustled the daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon to a quick :13.215 clocking over the 250 yards to earn a 97 speed index. The $9,000 winner's purse boosted the brown miss' earnings mark to $144,982.

Michael Taylor conditions the Oklahoma homebred for owner Weetona Stanley. Out of the grade 1 winning Mr Jess Perry mare First Prize Leesa, First Prize Shaunda was co-bred by W.E. Smith. Her record stands at (13) 7-0-2.

Trainer Martin Trejo saddled Rosouti, a 5-year-old Agouti mare from the Heza Fast Dash mare Rose For Windy, for owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. Ridden by David Alvarez the sorrel pushed her career earnings mark past $80,000 after picking up $3,000 for today's effort. Jo Baya Foreman is the breeder.

Tf Eyes R Struttin earned $1,650 for owner Louis Johnson, Jr. Lanny Keith conditions the Struttin To Beduino 4-year-old out of Eyes R Special, by Mr Eye Opener. Patrick Watson had the riding assignment aboard the Steve Tate Louisiana-bred. She has earned $62,775.

Completing the field were Laynes Corona On Ice, Imkeepingscore, Hesablackmagic and Braggin N Dashin.
