Quite Riot Surprises With Top Qualifying Evangeline Downs Futurity Mark

OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 28, 2014—Coming off a maiden win on October 22nd, Quite Riot at 7-to1 odds was much the best in the sixth of nine trials for the Evangeline Downs Futurity Friday night. The sorrel colt defeated the two post-time favorites by 1¾ lengths to set the top qualifying time.

The 10 fastest 2-year-olds, from the 73 head who participated in Friday night's trial races, will return to Evangeline Downs on Saturday, December 20 to vie for the winner's share of a $100,000-added purse.

Ridden by jockey Manuel Garcia, Quite Riot completed the 400 yard course in :19:986 seconds, a 92 speed index into a 5 mph headwind. Trainer Luis Gutierrez-Perry saddled the Swingin Jess colt for owner Rodolfo Sanchez. It was the second win in eight starts this season and the first stakes qualification for the $17,820 earner.

Bred by Patton Farms, Quite Riot is out of the multiple stakes producing First Down Dash mare Dashs Co Ed, the dam of LQHBA Breeders Futurity(RG1) winner First Down Hero ($335,063), Harrah's Entertainment Futurity winner Miracle Streak ($139,254) and Evangeline Downs Derby third place finisher Dance Dance ($99,196).

In the third trial (Race 4) Fasttimeswith Redoak, under jockey Luis Vivanco, defeated Jess Cutnup Quick by a neck to post the second fastest time of :19.945. Two other horses drafted into the final off this trial race.

Rodolfo Sanchez saddled Fasttimeswith Redoak for owner Trinidad Flores. The Red Oak Special gelding is the winner of four of seven starts this season and was fourth in the $128,250 Gillespie County Fair Futurity on August 24.

J.B. and Sherrie Morace bred Fasttimeswith Redoak in Texas from the Okey Dokey Dale mare Rg Miladys Fast Lady. He has earned $21,485 this season.

Still a maiden in four starts this season, Jess Cutnup Quick got his third second place effort in four starts while holding on to the third fastest time of :19.983. Barbara Alcantara trains the Jess Louisana Blue gelding out of Call Me Quick Love, by Call Me Together. Julian Cantu was aboard for owner Erick Montes. Hall L. Davis the IV is the breeding.

Ww Showtime stepped up from a second place $10,000 tag effort on August 30 at Fair Grounds Race Course to break his maiden and get the fourth fastest time of :19.986 for owner Jaime Flores. Homar Garza trains the lightly raced son of First Prize Perry out of Ww Family Tradition, by Strawflly Special. Darrel Williams is the breeder.

Grade 2 Firecracker Futurity winner Hezadashinbye qualified out of the third trial for owner/breeder Narciso Flores. Only a neck separated the top four finishers in this race. Christian Rubalcava conditions the Tempting Dash colt that has won three of five starts this season and earned more than $145,000. David Alvarez was aboard the Texas-bred out of Goinbye, by Dashin Bye.
