Old South Futurity Headlines Saturday Program at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA–MAY 14, 2024–Fastest qualifier Hawkabye Baby drew the rail post for Saturday's 330-yard, $213,210 Old South Futurity for 2-year-olds at Delta Downs.

A chestnut daughter of the One Dashing Eagle stallion Hawkeye, Hawkabye Baby made her career debut with a 1 1/2-length victory in the fourth of nine trials on April 27. Juan Diaz Jr. trains the filly for owner Heavy Hitters Racing Stables, which purchased Hawkabye Baby from breeders Tyler and Naia Graham for $8,500 at last year's TQHA Yearling Sale in San Antonio.

Hawkeye Baby will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr.

Other contenders include Juan Servin's DM Nite Hawk, a son of Hawkeye and an $8,000 purchase from breeder Donna Mushinski at last year's TQHA Yearlilng Sale. The gelding has earned $29,862 from three races, and his record includes a fifth-place finish, two lengths behind winner DK Mamey Jess, in the 300-yard, $398,000 Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2) on March 30.

DM Nite Hawk drew post 10 and will be ridden by Eleazar Hernandez for trainer Daniel Luna.
