Eight Distance Specialists Entered in Delta’s Virgil Bond Stakes

VINTON, LA—MAY 28, 2019—Eight distance specialists, headed by Giovanni Barron’s JW Who Dat, have been entered in Friday’s 870-yard, $25,000 Virgil Bond Stakes at Delta Downs.
JW Who Dat will be making his first official start since February 2, when the 7-year-old gelded son of Agouti won the 870-yard, $25,000 Magnolia Stakes (R) for state-breds at Louisiana Downs. JW Who Dat drew post 6 and will be ridden by Antonio Alberto for trainer Alejandro Garza.
Other contenders include Paul Daigle’s Eton, a 4-year-old son of champion Jess Louisiana Blue who has won both of his starts at the 870 distance. Trained by Phillip Calais Jr., the gelding is coming off of a wire-to-wire, three-quarter length victory in an 870-yard, $26,000 non-winners-of-two allowance race at Delta on May 11.
Eton drew post 3 and will be ridden by Randy Edison.
