Seventeen Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity Trials Set for Saturday

Streakin Fast Rouge will head 17 trials on Saturday for the Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) trials at Delta Downs.

VINTON, LA—APRIL 25, 2019—Streakin Fast Rogue, a gelded son of the Heza Fast Dash stallion Heza Fast Rogue owned by Ashton Elder and Miguel Romero Jr., is one of 170 state-bred 2-year-old colts and geldings entered in Saturday’s 330-yard Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) trials at Delta Downs.

To accommodate the large number of trials -- 17 -- Delta Downs has moved its post time for the first race up to 3:30 p.m. (CDT).

Streakin Fast Rogue will be stretching out in distance off of his fifth-place finish, three-quarters of a length behind winner HH Gailforce, in the 300-yard, $305,296 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs. The gelding, a $10,500 purchase at last year’s Louisiana QHBA Yearling Sale, drew post 9 and will be ridden by Eddi Martinez in the sixth trial.

Other prominent Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s trials include Mardi Gras Futurity finalists JJ Jess An Meteorite and Jrs Sir Pop A Top. A homebred black son of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Jess An Idea trained by Jose Carrizales for owner J & J Stables LLC, JJ Jess An Meteorite has earned $15,812 from two starts.

JJ Jess An Meteorite drew post 10 and will be ridden by Ricardo Hernandez Jr. in the 12th heat.

Jrs Sir Pop A Top was a $12,200 buy at last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale. Trained by Willie Simien Jr. for owner Patrick Richardson, the Sir Runaway Dash colt drew post 8 and will be ridden by Rolando Pina in the eighth trial.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the May 18, $75,000-added Louisiana Breeders’ Lassie Futurity final.
