VINTON, LA—JUNE 13, 2020—Delfino Lozano IV’s El Camino CL, a homebred graded stakes winning son of Heza Fast Dash, heads a group of 173 state-bred colts and geldings entered in Saturday’s 330-yard $357,981 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) trials at Delta Downs.
Eighteen heats will be contested, starting at 2:35 p.m. (CDT). Post time for the last trial is set for 9:40.
El Camino CL will be stretching out in distance off of his neck victory as the 9-5 favorite in the 300-yard, $315,166 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) at Louisiana Downs on March 14. The undefeated colt has earned $145,425 from two outs.
El Camino CL drew post 2 and will be ridden by Eddie Sanchez for trainer Jose Luis Sanchez III in the 12th trial.
Denalia Sweet Jess, a gray son of One Sweet Jess trained by Wendy Garcia for owner Jose H. Rodriguez, is coming off of a third-place finish to El Camino CL in the Mardi Gras Futurity. A $9,000 purchase at last year’s Louisiana QHBA Yearling Sale, the colt drew post 2 and will be ridden by Modesto Pina in the 14th heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the July 4, $75,000-added Louisiana Laddie Breeders’ Futurity final.
