Fair Grounds Presents Three State-Bred QH Stakes on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, LA—DECEMBER 9, 2019—Three graded state-bred Quarter Horse stakes will be the program on Saturday, as Fair Grounds Racecourse presents its annual Louisiana Champions Day.

Myron McKinnon’s DLJ Imma B Famous, a 6-year-old son of Coronas Leaving You, drew post 9 for Saturday’s 440-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic Stakes (RG2). Trained by Alberto Solis, the bay gelding has earned $67,080 from five starts this year, and his season resume includes a 2 1/4-length victory as the 3-1 favorite in the 440-yard, $40,000 Mid-City Stakes (RG3) at Fair Grounds on September 7.

Also on Saturday, Runaway Second Down heads a field of 12 state-bred 2-year-olds entered in the 350-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile Stakes (RG2). Trained by Robi Meche for owners Eulalio Argote and Victor Alvarado, the gray son of Sir Runaway Dash has banked $368,526 from seven outs, and his three wins include a head victory in the 350-yard, $700,293 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs on July 6. The gelding drew post 11 and will be ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr.

A dozen state-bred sophomores are entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Derby Stakes (RG3). Larry J. Boudreau’s Mpshinning, a Mr Piloto colt trained by Adrian Huitron, has earned $41,882 from five races this season, and he is coming off of a fall campaign during which he ran second, one length behind winner Eysa Jess Jumpn, in the 440-yard, $204,600 Dash For Cash Derby (G3) at Lone Star Park on October 5. The colt drew post 6 and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr.
