Saturday Stakes Doubleheader Set for Fair Grounds


W Who Dat is one of eight distance specialists entered in Saturday’s 870-yard, $25,000 Faubourg St. John Stakes at Fair Grounds Racecourse.

NEW ORLEANS, LA—AUGUST 28, 2018—Fernando Ramirez’s JW Who Dat, a stakes winner during the Delta Downs meet, is one of eight distance specialists entered in Saturday’s 870-yard, $25,000 Faubourg St. John Stakes at Fair Grounds Racecourse.

JW Who Dat is a 6-year-old son of Agouti trained by Eric Palacios. The gelding has earned $65,700 from six outs this year, and his season record includes a wire-to-wire, 1 3/4-length victory in the 870-yard, $25,000 Virgil Bond Stakes on June 1.

JW Who Dat has won three of his seven starts since he was claimed for $3,500 on October 25, 2017. The gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by Antonio Alberto.

Also on Saturday, Patrick Richardson’s Stone Cold Leader heads a field of six in the 350-yard, $25,000 Esplanade Stakes.

A gelded son of Brookstone Bay trained by Joe M. Davis, Stone Cold Leader will be making his first start against aged runners off of his one-length victory as the 2-1 favorite in the 400-yard, $212,000 Firecracker Derby at Delta Downs on June 30.

Stone Cold Leader drew post 2 and will be ridden by Rolando Pina.
